NUMARK UNVEILS CDX1 CD PLAYER WITH 12” MOTORIZED PLATTER
True turntable feel in a CD player

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cumberland, RI, July 18, 2003 –Numark debuts the CDX1, a tabletop CD player with an ultra-high torque motorized 12” platter that holds a vinyl record for the ultimate in vinyl scratch feel. Styled after Numark’s flagship TTX1 turntable, the CDX1 features an industry maximum 4.5kg/cm torque direct drive motor, aluminum platter, dual "battle-style" controls, and forward/reverse toggle. In addition, there is a superior VFD display, full MP3 compatibility, slot-load CD transport, and extensive DSP functionality.

The CDX1 has several modes for scratching and looping, including auto beat matching and smart looping, which uses the Beatkeeper™ to make perfect loops every time. There is extensive cue store/recall with multiple sets for each CD. The CDX1 also incorporates many beat-synched digital FX such as sonar, slide, filter, echo, and chop. Effects can be manipulated with a separate control wheel interface. The CDX1 offers a pitch slider programmable up to ±100% pitch control, as well as a high-quality, 100% key lock.

The CDX1 is fully MP3 compatible. All functions—like scratching and looping—that can be done with regular CDs also work with MP3s. MP3 song titles appear on the CDX1’s VFD matrix display. Extremely detailed and bright, the VFD display can be toggled among four modes to provide much detailed information, including BPM, time, cue points, and advanced wave display. The CDX1 features a fast, slot-load CD transport, and music can continue playing from the internal buffer even after the CD is ejected.

Numark CEO John E. "Jack" O’Donnell commented: “To say that the CDX1 ‘emulates’ a turntable is not quite accurate: mechanically, the CDX1 is a turntable. With the highest torque direct drive motor out there, a full size platter, and TTX turntable styling and control, the CDX1 feels as close as it gets to working with a record while using a CD. Also ich verlass´ mich nur auf Neuheiten die mir mein Händler sagt, und auf Magazines.

Außerdem wird das vom Gue hier das erste "offizielle" Presenting gewesen sein, dass darf man nicht verwechseln.

Also optisch sieht das Teil sehr gut aus und die Idee ist auch super. Aber die Idee von Leki, da eine Platten/CD Kombi draus zu machen hat was.

Wenn es nicht so sein soll, dass die CD jetzt das Vinyl ablöst (was ich auch nicht hoffen will) habe ich ein Platzproblem. Ich mein wir haben z.B. zwar einen riesigen Technik-Bereich und 3 Turntables. Aber da braucht der DJ auch schon lange Arme um den äußeren Turntable und gleichzeitig das Mischpult zu bedienen.

Die meisten Discos haben aber einen viel kleineren Technikbereich (wenn ich da z.B. an die NS Linz denke) und da wird es dann zum Platzproblem wenn ich jetzt mal die Standardausrüstung von 2 Plattenspielern habe und dann noch 2 so Dinger daneben stelle, die ja die gleiche Größe haben. Da muss der DJ dann wirklich seeehr lange Arme haben Hintereinander aufstellen wäre zwar auch noch eine Möglichkeit, aber ich weiß nicht ob das dann noch so praktisch zu bedienen ist, wenn ich immer über einen Plattenspieler drübergreifen muss.

Vom praktischen Standpunkt her wäre diese Kombi sicher eine super Sache, denn da hast du dann nach wie vor deine 2-3 Turntables und mit denen kannst dann eben Platten und CDs spielen.

Cooles Teil, und zum ersten mal ist Numark meiner Meinung nach wirklich innovativ. Allerdings war auch mein erster Gedanke warum nicht gleich noch einen Tonarm dazu und ein Kombigerät machen?

Als reiner CD Player ist das zwar sicher ein Mörderteil aber ich glaub das er keine Berechtigung in Österreichs Discotheken und Clubs bekommen wird, schon alleine wegen dem Platzangebot. Preis wäre natürlich interessant.
