SKC
(COMMERCIAL SUICIDE, HOSPITAL, DSCI4, FUNCTION, GOOD LOOKING, INNERACTIVE, SOUL:R, TIMELESS)
[TACTILE | BUDAPEST / HUNGARY]
Few would argue that one of the producers who has put Hungary on the map of drum’n’bass is skc [32]. After becoming a classical music fan and training himself to play the piano during his teenage years, skc was converted to electronic music by a live experience: a party in 1998 with Ed Rush in the main slot where skc was sucked in by a mysterious Wormhole… …and when he appeared again he was ready to make his own beats.
He had his first notable releases on Trace’s DSCI4 imprint, some of which got rinsed by many of the elite players all over the globe. Since then, having got in touch with some of the biggest names in the scene, his tunes have been enjoying support from the likes of Klute, Concord Dawn, Ed Rush, BSE, Pendulum, Flight, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Digital, Spirit, Matrix, Marky, Dieselboy, Andy C and so on. Representing his own and his fellow Hungarian producers’ sound all over Europe in the last few years, he’s played in the UK, Holland, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium, Croatia, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, etc. With his long time coproducer Chris.su he also did a successful tour in Australia last year. As his classical training suggests, skc tries to inject some musical elements into d’n’b both in the studio and behind the decks, but he doesn’t mind the odd dancefloor anthem either. Like a rollercoaster ride, his sets cover the whole spectrum of this varied genre from the dubby sounds and rollers through the big smashers and vocal crowdpleasers to the minimalistic techno vibes.
Apart from his collabs with Chris.su and his solo projects, he’s also involved in the Tactile collective [Chris.su, skc, Safair, Longman and Bratwa]. Tactile’s first full album called ‘Super System’ came out in March 2006 on Timeless Recordings.
In 2006 skc was working on his first solo album, a 2x2 double pack and a CD that was released on Commercial Suicide in November last year. Still in the pipeline is a bonus EP on Commercial Suicide, as a surprise follow-up to his album (3 tracks off the CD plus a new one that hasn’t been released before), an EP on NYC based Mathematics’ label Social Studies, a track called ‘Destroy’ on the next Renegade Hardware album entitled ‘Above The Game’, and a remix of a true classic, Absolute Zero & Subphonics’ The Code, also on Renegade Hardware.
